Meditation for the Day
True spirituality is not measured by what we believe, but by what we do. Our beliefs have no real meaning if they never influence our choices or alter our behavior. A lot of us say we believe in God or have an understanding of a Higher Power, yet our day to day actions do not seem to be influenced by those beliefs. Let’s consider the many opportunities we will have to make decisions today. Are we going to lie, steal, cheat and take advantage of others, or will we be honest, kind, forgiving, and honorable in our dealings with our peers? Will the choices we make be based on what we want or on what we believe God wills for us? Will we repeat old negative behaviors or will we act differently because of our faith in a Higher Power? If we claim to be people of faith, our decisions need to be informed by the beliefs we espouse and guided by spiritual principles of this program. To become truly spiritual people, we need to allow our stated beliefs to shape our decisions and to alter our patterns of behavior.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that I will put my beliefs into practice by basing my choices and decisions on the spiritual principles of this program. I ask my Higher Power to increase my sense of integrity so that my behavior today will be consistent with what I claim to believe.
