24 Nov I do my best to stay in gratitude by Susan Stewart
For me, gratitude is waking up in the morning and not being sick or going to the methadone clinic or wondering how to stay well. Gratitude for me is my two beautiful daughters, four grandsons, and beautiful sons in law. I know I would not have any of this if I wasn’t given the gift of being clean. The person who walked into the rooms is not the person I am today. Over these years, I have been able to be present for all my loved ones, and one of the best things is that my grandchildren have never seen me loaded.
I am so grateful to all my friends in the program, and working at CRI-Help has been one of the best experiences I could ever have dreamed of. I have a family here who has never given up on me. During ALL the hard times, they have always been there for me. I believe if it weren’t for the program and the people, I wouldn’t be here. Also, I’ve had to walk through some difficult times and had a higher power and the people in the rooms that walked with me.
I believe we are very blessed people to have this fellowship. I do my best to stay in gratitude. I decided to write about this since it is difficult for me to put my feelings on paper because I want people struggling to know there is a better way to live.
