Meditation for the Day
Is it possible that we could be sad, upset or depressed and yet be completely unaware of it? Yes. Could one of our friends or peers know that we’re not OK even before we do? Again, yes. It’s a strange aspect of human nature that we can be blind to what’s going on inside of us while those around us can see it so clearly. The ones who know us best can easily sense when our affect is different. They can pick up on our anger, resentments, sadness, and pain. If we are lucky, one of them will love us enough to point that out to us when they see it. Most of us just assume that we are completely aware at all times of how we are doing and what we are feeling. So we tend to resist the notion that others can see when something isn’t right with us. But the fact is that we are often the last ones to know how we are doing. So, the next time your peers tell you that you are looking down, anxious or not OK, listen to them. It could be your Higher Power telling you that it’s time to take some inventory and call your sponsor.
Prayer for the Day
I pray that I will be open to the honest feedback of those who are able to detect when I’m not OK. I thank my Higher Power that I have good people in my life today who care enough to ask me to look at myself so I can take the necessary corrective action.
