North Hollywood non-profit Drug and Alcohol Treatment program seeks full-time Bilingual (English/Spanish) Youth Services Counselor.
The Bilingual Youth Mentor will work with youths, and their families, facilitating and supporting a Case Plan through the provision of school-based family and youth support services, mentoring through a social learning model. The Youth Mentor will provide referrals for client for ancillary services as identified in the Case Plan or as identified through interactions with the youth and family.
The Youth Mentor will help provide weekly family and youth support services, maintaining contact with youth, family and the Probation Case Manager. He or she will facilitate referrals to outside agencies, complete weekly documentation and maintain a caseload of clients.
The youth mentor will attend mandatory contractor trainings, participate in probation liaison meetings, collaborate with probation staff, and carry out other related activities as directed by Project Director or Field Supervisor; the youth mentor will facilitate the coordination of extra-curricular activities for youths and their families.
Candidates for this position should possess excellent mentoring and counseling skills, communication and organizational skills, computer and writing skills and have the ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives without direct supervision.
Candidates for this position must have the ability to pass a background clearance and be willing to work evenings and weekends and have prior experience experience working with at-risk youth
A Bachelor’s Degree in in Sociology, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Education or a related field is required.
