23 Dec A Christmas message by Jack Bernstein
I recently went on a long-range fishing trip for eight days to Alijos Rocks in the Mexican waters. It’s several hundred miles south of San Diego. We left on November 19th on the Polaris Supreme out of San Diego. One of the highlights of this trip is that I got to take four clients: three from the Pfleger Center and one from Socorro. The clients and all others that were on the trip had an absolutely fabulous time. And we caught a lot of fish. We caught a 161 Wahoo (25lbs – 70lbs) and 70 small Yellowfin tuna (10 -25lbs.).
Most of what we caught was sent to a fish processing company where they fillet and vacuum seal into two pound bags. They then shipped to CRI-Help. Clients at both facilities will be enjoying wahoo and yellowfin for at least six meals. The clients that went on the trip did amazingly well and caught their fair share of fish, including the largest Dorado I’ve ever seen. We have been able to take clients on similar trips many times over the years, and whenever I see clients that have gone on one of those trips, they always bring up the remainder of their experience. This is just one way of showing clients that recovery can be a blast.
2020 has been a challenging year for all of us, and it looks like it will continue to be for some time. We, at CRI-Help, look forward to meeting that challenge and continue to find ways to support our current clients, as well as our alumni clients. I wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy, prosperous, and clean 2021.
Love you all,
Jack Bernstein
